Ánh Sao Private School for the Deaf is located at 403 Nguyễn Văn Cừ, Lộc Phát, Bảo Lộc, Lâm Đồng, Việt Nam, and is affiliated with the Lộc Phát Parish of the Đà Lạt Diocese.
In 1996-1997, recognizing the educational needs of Deaf children, Cardinal Peter Nguyễn Văn Nhơn, then Bishop of Đà Lạt Diocese, encouraged and facilitated special education training for several sisters of the Congregation.
Upon completing their studies, these sisters returned to the main house of the Order and began holding classes for Deaf children. For the first six months, the Congregation's guest house served as their temporary classroom.
While these initial classes were being held, a significant decision was made. At 403 Nguyễn Văn Cừ in Lộc Phát Ward – a location with a history of housing Preachers and later serving as a general clinic under Fathers Peter Hoàng Ngọc Dao and Joseph Vũ Đình Tân of Lộc Phát Parish – Cardinal Peter Nguyễn Văn Nhơn and Father Joseph Vũ Đình Tân chose to build a school specifically for Deaf children. Once the first phase of construction was complete, the students moved from the the main house of the Order to this new site. The school was then temporarily named "Trường Tư Thục Khiếm Thính Tình Thương" (Tình Thương Private School for the Deaf).
Since its establishment, the school has evolved and is now known as "Trường Tư thục Khiếm thính Ánh Sao" (Ánh Sao Private School for the Deaf). This transformation includes improvements to its facilities, staffing, student enrollment, educational programs, and the provision of job opportunities for graduates.
The nuns at Ánh Sao Private School provide comprehensive physical and mental development for Deaf children. Recognizing that each Deaf child's needs are unique, the school utilizes a range of communication methods. They focus on maximizing residual hearing and speech abilities, and also incorporate Vietnamese Sign Language (VSL) for students with more severe hearing loss to ensure effective communication and accessibility. In addition to the standard curriculum provided by the Ministry of Education, the school also focuses on:
Developing life skills through school and extracurricular activities.
Providing faith-based support.
Offering career guidance to enable students to support themselves and integrate confidently into the community, thus illuminating the "starlight" in their lives.
Ánh Sao Private School for the Deaf strives to help each Deaf child's "starlight" shine brightly. With the support of Bishops, Parish Priests, and benefactors, along with the enduring dedication of the nuns, the school has achieved significant progress. The school expresses its gratitude and hopes that each "starlight" in their care will continue to shine brighter and brighter.
